West of Rift Valley Region

 Established in 1986 following a directive from the General Chapter to elevate areas to regions, the West of the Rift Valley Region (WORVR) finds its headquarters in Bungoma. Currently led by Sr. Kinigonda Okemasisi as Regional Superior, she is supported by Sr. Irene Masibayi as Vicaress, Sarah Richo as Council Member, and Sr. Grace Akoth as Substitute Councillor.

WORVR encompasses the ecclesiastical dioceses of Bungoma, Kitale, Eldoret, Kericho, and Kisii.

The Little Sisters of St. Francis in WORVR are primarily dedicated to various ministries:

Health Ministry:

  • St. Damiano Medical Center: Established in 2001 in Bungoma Town, serving approximately 500,000 people with outpatient and inpatient care, maternity services, HIV/AIDS programs, and more.
  • St. Clare Medical Centre: Founded in 2008 in Nambale-Kisoko Parish, providing outpatient care, maternity services, surgical interventions, and an eye clinic.
  • St. Joseph’s Amukura Hospital: Located in South Teso, offering a range of healthcare services including outpatient and inpatient care, maternity services, and community-based health care.

Education Ministry:

  • Mother Kevin Comprehensive Schools: Started in 2002 in Bungoma Town,educating children at Primary Level and also Junior Secondary School Level with a focus on quality education and equipped with transportation facilities.
  • St. Theresa’s Nursery School: Established in 2004 in Kisoko, providing early childhood education along the Bungoma-Busia Road.
  • Padre Pio Primary school located in Cheptiret – Eldoret

Social Services:

  • St Josephine Bakhita Babies Home: Founded in 1952, providing care for children aged 0-5 years in South Teso District, focusing on reuniting children with their families or finding suitable adoptive homes.
  • St. Elizabeth Vocational School Bungoma: Opened in 2008, providing vocational training in dressmaking, tailoring, knitting, computer skills, and agriculture, particularly for youth with disabilities.
  • St. Francis School for the Deaf – Kitale: Established in 2011, offering specialized education and support for hearing-impaired children.

Pastoral Program:

  • Includes catechism for all age groups, home visits for the sick, and vocational promotion in schools and parishes to encourage vocations to religious life
